AN Irish woman locked up in a squalid Ecuadorian jail has spoken for the first time about her rape and Aids fears.

Roisin Zoe McGarry claimed she has suffered months of torment in one of the world's toughest prisons.

The 30-year-old told the Irish Daily Mirror how she was sexually assaulted by jail guards and how she dodges angry inmates armed with blood-filled syringes each day.

Roisin was jailed for eight years in 2004 after 2.5kg of cocaine was found in her luggage as she boarded a flight to Britain.
