China TieTong closes all 1,300 Internet cafes due to high inter-network fees

Shanghai. August 29. INTERFAX-CHINA - Chinese fixed-line operator China TieTong (TieTong) closed down all its Internet cafes across China due to high inter-network settlement fees.

"We closed all the approximately 1,300 'China TieTong' Internet cafes that we operate in 6 provinces of China. The high inter-network settlement fees charged to TieTong by China Telecom and China Netcom made the operation of the Internet cafes very difficult," TieTong spokesperson Guo Xiaozhao told Interfax.
