REVERENCE'S winning time of 1min 0.68sec in the Nunthorpe Stakes was the slowest in the last 25 years. This was mostly down to the soft ground, but there was also a very steady pace in the early stages by sprinting standards.
As Reverence enters the Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock on Saturday, the finer points of his victory at York are less important than the two central themes of his past performances: his best form has come with some cut in the ground over 5f.
