Aug. 30--It is about to get more crowded in Sherman County.
Panda Ethanol said Tuesday it plans to build a $130 million plant to distill 100 million gallons of ethanol per year there.
The U.S. Census Bureau estimates the county's population at 3,002.
"At one point during the construction, there will be over 400 construction workers. We've talked about trailer parks and RV parks," said Kathy Allen, executive director of the Sherman County Economic Development Corp. "I've already had people come by in anticipation asking about housing and a couple of builders."
