z The Woodland Trust is the UK's leading woodland conservation charity and is a major user of instant messaging (IM), according to its network and systems manager, Richard Otter.
About half the organisation's 230 staff work from home. And while they have subsidised broadband access, Otter says there is still room for an additional message medium.
'We wanted to reduce the load on email, both from a user and network point of view. I get about 150 emails a day and I'm sure I'm not unusual -- if we can cut down the ones that just say "can you call me" we are all better off,' he says.
