WHILE the physical pain of eczema is hard to miss, the psychological side is often overlooked. Yet for millions of sufferers the skin complaint can make life a misery.
In a recent report, to mark National Eczema Week (September 16-23) the National Eczema Society found that 29% of sufferers have been bullied as a result of their complaint, and a shocking 86% feel self-conscious of their appearance.
Sufferers list failure, depression and guilt as typical feelings of living with the complaint - the same emotions are associated with clinical depression.
The study's findings ring true with Warrington-born Jo Armstrong.
