Aug. 31--Owners of several western Nebraska farm ponds that were built during the last half-century must let water pass downstream. The effectiveness of this latest attempt to refill depleted Nebraska reservoirs is unclear. "It's probably not a lot of water, but it's our attempt to get water that should be coming into our reservoirs," Marv Swanda, manager of the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation's field office in McCook, said Wednesday.
