LOS ANGELES _ In "Crank," Jason Statham drives a car through a mall, dangles from a helicopter over Los Angeles and battles ethnic villains by the dozen, but his most difficult stunt may have involved over-exposure to energy drinks.
In the film, Statham plays Chev Chelios, a hitman who's body has become a ticking time bomb thanks to a mysterious poison. If his heart rate slows, he dies, so he uses everything at his disposal _ including can after can of different caffeinated beverages _ to maintain his accelerated equilibrium.
