Aug. 31--Two significant hearings are scheduled next week at the San Ramon Planning Commission -- one on an amendment to the city's general plan to protect golf courses from development and another on a major housing project. The housing project, known as Faria Preserve, includes a proposal for several hundred houses, condominiums and senior apartments on the city's northwest side. The units, a park, a house of worship and a school, would be built by Fremont-based Claremont Homes Inc. in three neighborhoods.
