Aug. 31--DEWAR -- Waterloo firefighters honed their skills in a drill Wednesday that simulated the rescue of a person trapped at the top of a grain elevator.
In the scenario, Travis Bagby, a volunteer with the Dunkerton Fire Department, played the role of a worker caught at the top of the 140-foot-high grain leg at AgVantage FS in Dewar.
Members of Waterloo Fire Rescue's technical rescue team executed the rescue with Dunkerton firefighters taking notes.
"It went off without a hitch," said Steve Weliver, a fire captain with Waterloo.
