THE GREAT Chicago foie gras debate rages on, but did you know it raged -- well, simmered, anyway -- more than 70 years ago in the epicenter of foie gras production in the United States, which also just happened to be not 50 miles from Madison?
More on that interesting tale momentarily. This week, the city of Chicago received its first official complaint of a restaurant -- Block 44 in Lincoln Square -- serving the enlarged duck and goose livers, which are now banned in Chicago.
