Sep. 1--PYONGYANG -- Kyodo News, Japan's main news agency, opened a bureau in the North Korean capital of Pyongyang on Friday, the first Japanese news organization to establish an office in North Korea.
With North Korea drawing attention over its nuclear program and recent missile launches, Kyodo News said it aims to provide its readers with accurate, objective, quality reports from its news-gathering base there.
This will be the 41st overseas bureau for Kyodo News.
