Sep. 2--LIMA -- While offering solutions to increase Veterans Memorial Civic Center funding, Commissioner Greg Sneary was clear about two things Friday: He doesn't want to see the downtown facility close, but the county general fund can't keep supporting it to the tune it has.
Sneary, presenting 15 ways to increase Civic Center revenue Friday to The Lima News, made clear his beliefs about the facility.
"I never said I wanted the Civic Center to close," Sneary said. "I said I wanted to fix it. All I'm seeing now is Band-Aids. If it's not fixed, it may cease to exist. For me, it's about the fiscal health of the county."
