ENGLEWOOD, Colo. _ In one month, Ron Dayne went from the Denver Broncos' starting tailback to not even being on the final 53-man roster.
Dayne was probably the biggest name the Broncos released Saturday. Wide receiver Darius Watts, a second-round draft pick in 2004, and cornerback Roc Alexander were among the other cuts.
The Broncos had to cut down from 75 to 53 players Saturday.
Dayne was anointed the Broncos' starting tailback after Mike Anderson was cut in March. He struggled during the first week of camp and was demoted from first team to third team, behind Mike Bell and Tatum Bell. Dayne had 12 yards on five carries in Denver's first ...
