Sep. 3--A few years ago, while sitting on the patio of a restaurant next to the Mediterranean Sea in a small resort town south of Barcelona, I dined on paella, a specialty of the restaurant and the region. And it was there that I came to a conclusion: I don't care all that much for paella. I can appreciate the complex layers of this rice-based dish, and I can admire the intricacies of the flavors, but it had just become one of those things I would rather not eat.
