Wind-beaten and worn from water saturation, a tattered American flag in downtown New Orleans can easily be replaced. As for the storm-battered city itself, recovery has not been quite that easy. But as Tuesday, Aug. 29 marks the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans Mayor C. Ray Nagin and his Gulf Coast counterparts, continue a steady faith that their cities aren't down for the count.
"We are ready to take off;" Nagin said during his victory speech after being reelected as mayor. "We have citizens around the country who want to come back to the city of New Orleans, and we're going to get them all back."
