Sep. 4--Del Rosa Lanes in San Bernardino owner Tom Christi bought the 32-lane bowling alley in February 2001 and invested $1 million in renovations. He remodeled lanes, replaced seating and tables and added a new arcade and party rooms to capture a younger market.

"Bowling isn't like it was in the 1970s with the beer drinkers, the low lights and the smoking. It's family oriented now and bowling centers offer a whole package for them," he said.

Christi employs 35 people at Del Rosa Lanes and owns a 32-lane bowling alley in Santa Clarita.
