Sep. 5--FORT WALTON BEACH -- While Okaloosa County has tentatively lowered its millage rate, Fort Walton Beach's rate may remain the same.
The city's 4.97 millage rate could be a major topic at a pair of budget hearings that must be held before Fort Walton Beach's 2006-2007 budget is voted on.
The first hearing is Wednesday.
The rate tentatively remains intact, even as city staff suggested lowering it to near 4.6.
By comparison, the county's rate is set to drop from 4.25 to 3.95.
