Sep. 5--A Pueblo microbrewery took a first-place prize at the Colorado State Fair this year while a Canon City winery walked away with four first-place ribbons in commercial wine judging and several other awards.
In the microbrew competition held the first day of the 2006 Fair, Pueblo's Shamrock Brewing Co. won first place for its Shamrock Scotch in the Scottish Ale division. The Shamrock Brewing Co. is located in the former home of the Irish Pub Downtown and continues to operate the microbrewery set up by the Pub's former owner.
The Pueblo microbrewery also won second place for its Shamrock White in the Other Belgian Ale category.
