The Saudi Arabian-based Amiantit Group has successfully tested a glass fibre reinforced plastic (GRP) joint for use in high pressure pipelines.
The part, known as the DN2000 PN25 Flowtite joint, was tested for sheer load pressures of up to 5 MPa (50 bar) in a 24 h timeframe, and for angular deviation at 5 MPa (50 bar), also for 24 h, the company says. The joint's cyclic loading and reaction in vacuum conditions were also tested. The Flowtite joint is now deemed suitable for use according to ASTM D4161 as well as the more stringent requirements of ISO 8639 and EN 1119.
