SAT nav thieves are hitting 10 dozy drivers a day in the West Midlands in a crime craze that has already cost motorists a whopping pounds 800,000.

Police have seen a 309 per cent rise in thefts over the last ten months and there are fears the fad for the mapping devices could fuel a rise in crime figures.

The increasing trend in thefts of the latest must-have gizmo mirrors that of mobile phones and i-Pods, blamed for sparking a rise in street muggings.

Now police are to launch a major advertising campaign, branded "Sat Nabbed?", to put the brakes on the alarming number of machines being stolen ...
