Sep. 6--Armand Speidel says more Central Oregonians are going to the dark side.

Standing behind his store counter, filled with glossy bites of cocoa of every shade, Speidel says his dark chocolates are flying off the shelves.

Speidel sells about 100 pounds of his imported Belgian chocolates per day, he said, both online and in his Minnesota Avenue store, Chocolat et Gateaux. Of that, he estimates 75 percent is dark chocolate. That's a significant change since he started the store four years ago, when milk chocolate was the best seller.
