DENVER -- As the March 9 opening of Denver International Airport looms, consistent problems with the facility's automated baggage system have caused speculation that the opening could be delayed a third time.
During a meeting Tuesday, Mayor Wellington Webb and his top airport executives discussed opening date alternatives. But "it was decided that the opening would be March 9," said Denver manager of revenue Patricia Schwartzberg.
Schwartzberg repeated Denver's determination not to return to the bond market for more money. The city has spent all available airport system reserves to pay for the delays and is left with a $48 million bond coverage account ...
