Thomas Quigley's Johannes Brahms: An Annotated Bibliography is an essential research tool for all Brahms scholars. Quigley has chosen to include literature written before 1983, the sesquicentennial of the composer's birth. While that anniversary, which inspired many new publications, provided an appropriate terminus for this bibliography, Quigley plans to complete a sequel in time for the centennial of Brahms's death in 1997.
