Sep. 8--NEW HAVEN -- A third New Haven resident has contracted the West Nile virus, state health officials said Thursday.
Spraying to control mosquitoes will be conducted in wooded areas along the West River, where mosquito-breeding areas have been identified. These mosquitoes are believed to be the source of West Nile virus contracted by two other New Haven residents and one nearby West Haven resident.
Seven Connecticut residents have contracted West Nile virus this year. One person, a New Haven resident, who was over 75, died from the virus, health officials said.
