Sep. 9--SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame frequently has terrific induction classes. In 1969, the class included Red Auerbach, Hank Iba, Adolph Rupp and Charles "Chuck" Taylor, whose name adorned a million or so sneakers for a generation. The Class of 1980 featured Jerry West, Oscar Robertson and Jerry Lucas.
This year's class is unique, though, in that it perfectly captures the arc of the game's explosive growth in the last 25 years. The six inductees cover the gamut of basketball's new trends.
