Sep. 9--The way VMI coach Jim Reid tells it, Sean Mizzer was inspired by offensive coordinator Brent Davis' tales of Chicago Bears running back Adrian Peterson's work ethic when the two were at Georgia Southern.

Peterson, the story goes, wouldn't stop a drill at the requisite five yards or so. He'd extend every drill to 15 yards.

Mizzer, Reid said, heard the story and did Peterson one better -- actually 10 better.

"From the first day of practice, he went 20 or 25 yards, every time," Reid said.

Mizzer tells the same story with a slight difference. He was inspired, but it was by Davis more than Peterson.
