Sep. 11--THE REALITY of Sept. 11, 2001, didn't set in for Kathy Duffy of Topton until she saw the anguished faces of loved ones searching for victims.

Duffy was in New York City hours after the attacks, volunteering and waiting to learn the fate of friends who responded to the World Trade Center disaster.

As night fell, Duffy walked past people putting up posters searching for friends and loved ones who were still missing.

"People were desperate to find where their loved ones were," Duffy said. "That is what brought it home for me: the faces. I have never seen faces like that."
