Some mediators let clients shoot each other with foam-rubber weapons.

Mark Frankel, a former Dane County circuit judge who now mediates as part of his law practice, said it's not part of his repertoire, but he has colleagues who've done it.

"Some mediators actually tell humorous stories about Nerf weapons in mediations," Frankel said. "They shoot Nerf weapons to kind of get out the aggression. I haven't done that one, but people have experimented with different ways of releasing those tensions."
