The next thing you know, the banks in Britain will be giving away free broadband for anyone opening a new account.
Virgin Mobile, recently acquired by cable company NTL Telewest, is offering a year of 8 Mbps broadband to anyone that signs up for its SIM-only mobile phone service. Under a SIM-only plan, the customer supplies his own phone.
The broadband service has a 6GB monthly download limit but comes with free set-up and a free broadband modem. Customers can sign up for the free broadband for three months after initiating the mobile phone service. The offer is available until October 31.
