Sep. 12--Few landlords would tolerate ownership of a rental property that sits, mostly vacant, with the water spigots gushing.

That's the city's Reunion Arena in a nutshell.

City staff is now recommending that the money loser be shuttered soon after its last scheduled events in 2008, then go up for sale.

Good sense rules!

(So far, that is. The scenario first needs approval by the City Council.)

Taxpayers would rightly croak at the thought of shelling out upkeep money any longer than necessary. The maintenance and utility tab has gobbled up $3 million over the past two years.
