It's the opening day of the 2004 firearms deer season. My daughter Kassie, 13, has her fresh new gun safety certificate and her first Minnesota deer hunting license. It's noon, and she is sound asleep in the deer stand we built together. I may have woke her up a bit too early this morning. We left the house at 6 a.m. and did not see anything, so back to the house. Then I stuffed her with a 9 a.m. breakfast. With all the blaze orange clothes, double-time hikes and above-average temps she deserves a nap.
