Sep. 13--NEWPORT NEWS -- Rondra J. Matthews, who led the Daily Press to results that have outperformed some larger Tribune Co. newspapers of late, was named publisher, president and CEO of The Baltimore Sun Co. Tuesday. The roles she will assume at The Sun starting Oct. 1 are similar to her duties at Daily Press Inc. upon her arrival in July 2000. Matthews, 51, moves to Baltimore in the next step of her 26-year career with Tribune.
