With their extra flotation and traction, compact track loaders (CTLs) can tread lightly over tough jobsite conditions. For many contractors, this means CTLs translate into extra productivity.
However, one of the greatest safety concerns with CTLs is the chance of a rollover. "Because they're more stable than say a skid steer, operators feel they can go anywhere," says Eric Kohout, product training manager with New Holland. "But if you're on a steep incline and hit a rock, you could roll the machine over."
