Wireless carriers are taking a page from Cyren Call Communications Inc.'s playbook, offering to build a nationwide broadband public-safety network at 700 MHz as an alternative to Cyren Call's public-safety proposal.
However, at least one new plan has a major distinction from Cyren Call's plan: It would use existing public-safety spectrum-leaving for commercial services the 30 megahertz at 700 MHz band that will be available when vacated by TV broadcasters.
