LONDON, September 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Farmers Weekly's campaign, Local Food is Miles Better (http://www.fwi.co.uk/gr/foodmiles/index.html) which aims to raise awareness of the environmental and economic benefits of buying local produce has been debated in the Scottish Parliament.
The debate, coinciding with Scottish Food Fortnight, was raised by John Scott MSP, a farmer and president of the Scottish Association of Farmers Markets and drew a large attendance.
Thirty-eight members backed the campaign including Maureen Watt MSP who laid a motion in early summer calling on her colleagues to support the Farmers Weekly initiative.
