Sep. 15--MAITLAND -- Tammie Butler hid her reddened face behind the computer monitor atop the pharmacy counter, but the tears came anyway.

William Lippold, a customer of Maitland Rexall Drugs since 1969, was back in the store for the second consecutive day. And for a second day, there were tears.

"I can't believe this store is closing," Lippold, 88, said with a lump in his throat. "I worried about this thing all night. I feel like I'm losing an arm."

Maitland residents want to change many things about their downtown, but the landmark drugstore at U.S. Highway 17-92 and Horatio Avenue is not one of them.
