Sep. 16--South Dakota grocery stores, including the three in Aberdeen, pulled bagged spinach from their shelves Friday because of an E. coli outbreak in other states that reportedly killed one person and sickened more than 100 others. The FDA warned people not to eat the fresh spinach and said washing it wouldn't solve the problem because the bacteria are too tightly attached. No illness related to tainted spinach had been reported to the South Dakota Department of Health as of midday Friday, said spokeswoman Barb Buhler.
