Sep. 16--Although Florida law clearly says golf carts cannot be driven on city streets, many people in Destin don't realize that, Sandy Trammell of the city's Public Works/Public Safety Committee says.

"We have a lot of confusion out there," Trammell said at Tuesday's committee meeting. "I've got two 12-year-olds in my neighborhood driving golf carts up and down my street, and they're pulling kids on skateboards."

State law says golf carts can qualify as low-speed vehicles -- legal on roads with speed limits of 35 mph or less -- if the owners make modifications including headlights, stoplights, turn signals, a rearview ...
