Sep. 17--SEPTEMBER 17, 2006 -- Being Hispanic means different things to different people, according to one local scholar, but that doesn't mean that everyone celebrates their culture the same. "The whole idea behind Hispanic Heritage (month) is to stop and think about it in another way," said Antonio Zavaleta, vice president of external affairs at the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College. "It's all about taking a moment from our hectic lives to recall and to think about where we came from, and why that's important."
