Sep. 17--The fervor surrounding gay marriage in Minnesota seems to have lost its steam. Voters last week rejected two state Senate primary challengers who had the backing of the state's largest political action committee against gay marriage. Both races were in key conservative outstate districts those activists thought they could win. By significant margins, voters opted instead for incumbent Sens. Dean Johnson, the DFL majority leader who has voted against the constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, and Paul Koering, a Republican who is gay and has voted both for and against the amendment.
