Sometimes you find treasure where you aren't looking for it.
Such was the case when I checked out the laser-disc bin at my local video store and discovered ``The Secret Garden'' (Warner Home Video, 1993, G, letterboxed, 1 hour 42 minutes, $34.98). Not being familiar with the 1911 novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, the 1949 film version or the 1987 made-for-TV movie, I had no idea what to expect.
What a pleasant surprise it was to discover a brilliant gem, a genuinely touching and emotionally fulfilling story of a young English girl's discovery of a secret garden and how it affects her, her sickly cousin and his grieving father.
