An Arlington Heights smoking ban is not as simple as throwing out all the ash trays and hanging "no smoking" signs outside village businesses.
At a meeting Monday night, representatives from the Arlington Park racetrack, Beverly Lanes bowling alley, and two restaurants all said they'd want some sort of exception from a proposed village-wide smoking ban. Members of the Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce also said they'd support a statewide ban, but not one that affects only Arlington Heights.
The village board talked about the ban for three hours but did not vote on the idea Monday. If the board ...
