Sep. 18--SOUTH BEND -- Hey, it could be worse. Notre Dame could play at USC this Saturday night rather than at Michigan State. Check that. The unbeaten Spartans have won seven of the last nine meetings with the Irish, have more offense than Michigan and enjoy rubbing it in (remember the Spartans planting a school flag at mid-field of Notre Dame Stadium after last year's overtime win?). Maybe it is worse.
