Sep. 19--Sea otters are a little safer after Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a bill Monday that boosts protection of the beloved marine mammal.
"The bill definitely does highlight a number of issues sea otters are dealing with, and it gives citizens an opportunity to participate in their protection," said Mike Murray, veterinarian at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. "It will bring the words 'sea otter' to the attention of everyone in the state at least once a year during tax time."
