HIGH POINT -- Prosecutors opened their case Monday against Marlon L. Goodwin, the second of three men to face capital murder charges in the drug house killing of Alicia Herndon last year.

The 22-year-old woman died Jan. 7, 2005, at 214 Morgan Place after she was shot four times during a gunbattle between drug dealers from High Point and a Salisbury man.

If convicted, Goodwin, 27, could face the death penalty.

Goodwin's brother, John Goodwin, 24, went on trial in April to face murder charges. That case ended with a hung jury; he is expected to be retried.
