The main task facing the Institute as the basic research organization of the Military Topographic Service (MTS) of the Armed Forces has always been to study the problems of topographic and geodetic support. The key problem in this sense is preparing and handing down to forces the initial astronomical-geodetic and gravimetric data. We will term a set of these measures as geodetic support.
