Thanks to a grant from the Department of Homeland Security's Urban Area Security Initiative, the King County (Wash.) Sheriff's Office Marine/Dive Unit has a new patrol boat.
King County includes the cities of Seattle, Bellevue and Kirkland (where the boat is homeported), and the Marine Unit's area of operation includes Lake Washington and Puget Sound.
Built by Petaluma, Calif.-based Moose Boats, the M2-37 patrol boat is an all-aluminum catamaran that measures 37'6"X13'6" and is powered by twin Cummins QSB5.9 diesels (425 hp) combined with Twin Disc MG-5075 gears and Hamilton HJ292 water-jets.
