Sep. 19--The Central Florida Development Council bestowed top honors on Tampa Electric Co. and Historic Bok Sanctuary during its annual banquet Monday evening. Tampa Electric received the George W. Harris Jr. Award for promoting free enterprise, community service, economic stability and quality growth.
Historic Bok Sanctuary received the Dick Pope Sr. Award for marketing efforts, customer service to help enhance Polk County's tourism industry, related business and quality of life.
But this year's awards were a bit different.
