Sep. 20--All it takes is one brisk brush of cold weather to chase pedestrians indoors. In Rochester, that's not a problem with its system of pedestrian skyways and the tunnels, which we call subways. The city's skyways -- the enclosed, windowed walkways that span busy streets, a few alleys and the Zumbro River -- have been in existence in Rochester since 1989 when construction crews opened the spans that cross Broadway from the Centerplace Galleria mall to the Radisson Plaza Hotel; across First Avenue Southwest from Brackenridge Plaza to the US Bank building; and across Second Street Southeast from Radisson Plaza Hotel to Associated Bank. ...
